Our Olive Mill
The area that hosts Frantoio Gentili is particularly suited to olive cultivation thanks to a combination of climatic, geological, and historical factors. Farnese, the village where the mill is located, sits in a hilly zone of the province of Viterbo, in the heart of Tuscia, a region historically renowned for olive growing. The Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, together with mineral-rich volcanic soil, creates ideal conditions for olive trees to thrive.
The history of olive cultivation in Tuscia dates back to the Etruscan era, when the ancient inhabitants of the region were already growing olives and producing oil. Later, the Romans refined these techniques, helping to spread olive oil throughout the Empire. This long tradition has allowed a deep knowledge of cultivation and production techniques to develop, passed down from generation to generation.
